Spouse/Child of Japanese National
This is a very specific visa which only applies to 2 groups of people:
-
Children (without Japanese citizenship) born to a or adopted by a Japanese national
-
Non-Japanese spouse of a Japanese national

Spouse/Child of PR
This is a very specific visa which only applies to 2 groups of people:
1. Children born in Japan to PR holders (neither parent is a Japanese national)
2. Non-Japanese spouse of a Japanese PR holder
*Children born overseas joining their parents in Japan will fall under the Long Term visa category

Dependent Visa
If you are the spouse or child (under 20 years old) of someone with a valid visa status in Japan, you can apply for the Dependant visa to join them in Japan. Once you have this visa status, it is possible to apply for permission to work up part-time for up to 28 hours a week.

This visa is sometimes regarded as a sort of half-PR visa, often granted to applicants who do not fulfil the criteria for PR but have strong, usually familial ties to Japan. Some examples of possible Long Term Visa holders:
1. Adopted children under the age of 6, children, and grandchildren of Japanese nationals and PR holders
2. Divorced non-Japanese spouses of Japanese nationals and PR holders,
3. Second- and third-generation Japanese settlers
4. Refugees
